Nigerian Bishop Rapes Female Student; He Claims The Sex Happened Very Fast

Chairman of All Bishops in Rivers State, Bishop Chibuike Nwabueze, who was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl, was paraded by the state Police Command on Tuesday. The Bishop confessed to the crimein the presence of journalists but claimed that: He was hypnotised, adding that he was set up by the pastor of thechurch where the incident occurred as it seems some of those interested in his position don't like him. We gathered that Bishop Nwabueze claimed that it was not rape but just sex that happened so fast. He claimed she removed her clothes after he finished praying for her in the office and before he could shout ‘the blood of Jesus,’ he was already on top of the girl, having sex with her. The Bishop insisted that he was set up by his fellow Bishop, who are contesting for the post of Chairman of All Bishops in the state with him. Nwabueze, who was paraded at the Rivers State Criminal Investigation department, SCID, Port Harcourt, said anybody could have fallen a victim of what happened to him. He described as untrue, allegation that he made the girl abort a pregnancy from the incident. According to him, it was the girl’s father that did it but he took care of the bill. He said: “We have different Colleges of Bishops. I am the Chairman of Communion of Bishops in Rivers State. Well, what actually happened was a set up. It was set-up by my enemies. The man who is in-charge of where I went to minister is my enemy. Heis the person that set me up. “He invited me to his church for a programme and after the programme, he set me up because of what we are dragging.We are dragging the chairmanship of the communion and that was why he set me up. "To my greatest surprise, on the said day and after I had prayed for her, the girl started pulling off her clothes and before you knew it, I had carnal knowledge of her.”

Final Year Student Killed by Rapists

A final year Guidance and Counselling student of the NwaforOrizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra State, was allegedly killed on Saturday by some rapists after she failed to allow them to sexually abuse her. The killing was the climax of a series of rapes said to have become commonplace at the college in the past few months. The student, whose name was yetto be confirmed on Sunday, was said to be an indigene of Obeledu in Anaocha Local Government of the state. Her body was found near the school chapel not far from the lecturers’ quarters. The Provost of the college, Dr. Clara Obiagwu, declined comments on the incident when contacted. “Stay off our college until you are invited. Did you contact me before nosing around my college?I have told you, don’t report about my college,’’ she told reporters. The Public Relations Officer of the College, Mr. Willy Chukwuma, however said the incident did notoccur on the campus. The Anambra State University waslast month shut down after students took to the street to protest the killing of a female student by armed robbers that invaded a female hostel.

Panic in Benue as Cameroon releases water from dam

Cameroonian authorities have announced the release of water from Ladgo dam to residents of Makurdi, Guma, Agatu, Giwer and other affected areas in Benue State who are now in panic. The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr Adikpo Agbatse, had announced on state radio during theweek that the Cameroonian authorities would release water from the dam during the weekend and enjoined the people in vulnerable areas to be on alert, particularly, when the volume of water from River Benue begins to rise. Saturday Tribune went round vulnerable areas in the capital city when this was announced as some residents expressed their fears and called on the state government to immediately provide a comfortable place for them. A woman who lives at New Garage area, one of the worst hit last year, told Saturday Tribune that the family is already planning to relocate to the eastern part of the country to avoid the experience of last year. According to her, “someone called my husband this morning and informed him of the radio announcement of the repeat of the flood incident anytime from now. Immediately we heard this, we decided to send our children to the village to prevent them from experiencing the flood of last year as we were stranded in a room that looked like a cubicle when the flood sacked us from here. Also, Mr James Atser, who lives along Gboko road, one of the devastated areas last year, said that there was little he could do since he could not remove his house from the area, but called on the state government to make available a better place for people who may likely be displaced by the flood. The SEMA boss who spoke to Saturday Tribune said that Cameroonian authorities had sent alerts to the affected states, warningthat it would release water from herdam this weekend, adding that theyhad released some, penultimate Thursday.

20 robbers strike in Ogun, kill six

Hell was let lose on Saturday in Ifo community in Ifo local government area of Ogun State when armed robbers, numbering about 20, invaded the area and killed six people including five operatives of the Ogun State Vigilante Service. Sunday Vanguard learnt that the robbers were members of a gang that specialized in robbing banks and allied institutions. The robbers, who allegedly operated in an unmarked lorry, entered a filling station and shot the five men of the Vigilante Service guarding the place. One of the petrol station attendants was also said to be unlucky as the robbers bullets hit him and he died on the spot. The robbers were reportedly said to have engaged men of the StateAnti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in a gun duel before they escaped. When contacted, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident but stressed that only two persons were killed.

Boko-Haram Declare War On Borno, Yobe Youths Over Vigilante Activities

The Boko Haram leader said they now see the youth as their enemies. A spokesperson for the Boko Haram, Abu Zinnira, has said hisgroup will launch a manhunt for youth in Borno and Yobe states who partake in vigilanteactivities to identify and arrest members of the terrorist group. Some youth in both states have formed vigilante groups to assist the Nigerian military to identify and arrest the terrorists in the towns. Their activities have been commended by the presidency and the military; but has now put them in a battle with the terrorists. Abu Zinnira said his group is also waging a bloody war against the government of Borno and Yobe States in reaction to the massive arrest of their members by youth in the states. The terrorists’ spokesman, stated these in a statement written in Hausa and emailed to journalists. He added that they are waginga war against the Nigerian state in order to establish a Sharia legal system. He said while they maintain their hostility against the police, soldiers, politicians and other symbols of authority, they have now added the youth in these states to their kill-list. “We have established that the youth in Borno and Yobe statesare now against our course. They have connived with security operatives and are actively supporting the government of Nigeria in its war against us. We have also resolved to fight back,” he said. Some members of the youth groups, who did not want theiridentity disclosed for security reasons, have also vowed to continue their fight against theBoko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri, saying that they will not be deterred from carrying out their mission and there will be no going back. Man Jailed & Caned For Slapping A Woman In Abuja..lobatan

A Zuba Grade 1 Area Court on Tuesday sentenced one Mustapha Hashimu, 20, of ZubaFruit Market, near Abuja, to six months imprisonment for assaulting a woman. The Judge, Alhassan Kusherki, sentence Mr. Hashimu after the convict pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of criminal force and assault. Mr. Kusherki also ordered that the convict be given twelve strokes of the cane and an option of N20, 000 fine. Prosecutor Momoh Ibrahim told the court that on June 6, Mr. Hashimu went to Polygon Hotel Zuba-Abuja to drink. The prosecutor said it was while Mr. Hashimu was there that arguments ensue and he assaulted one Binta Abubakar of the same Fruit Market. The prosecutor said that the convict slapped the complaint twice on the face. He said the offence contravened Section 268 of the Penal Code.

A bride refused to show up at her wedding at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, on Saturday resulting in the cancellation of the wedding. LADOJA/AKALA ALLIANCE: Your poor performances made Ajimobi a star – Oyeleso slams

Two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State,Elder Wole Oyelese and Senator Lekan Balogun, have criticised the proposed alliance between former Governors Rashidi Ladoja and Adebayo Alao-Akala. They described it as “self-seeking” and a “purposeless marriage of convenience”. Speaking with The Nation at the weekend, Oyelese said the alliance did not have the blessing of PDP leaders in the state. The former Minister of Power and Steel said the poor performance of Ladoja and Alao-Akala while in office created room for Governor Abiola Ajimobi to become a star within two years in office. Oyelese said: “I think Ladoja and Alao-Akala are getting it wrong on the so-called alliance. Their approach is wrong, as they are not carrying other PDP leaders along. It is unfortunate that they are coming together for the wrong reason because I read in the papers that they came together for the sole purpose of preventing Ajimobi from winning the election for a second term in office. “For now, it is possible to say that Ajimobi has performed in his first two years. But I believe he owes thisperception largely to the inability of Ladoja and Alao-Akala to do some ofthe basic things he has done when they were in the same position. “If they had done it, Ajimobi would not have become such a star that henow appears to be for doing basic things. Ajimobi should not be their reason for coming together, as I do not believe he is the best Oyo State can offer and should therefore not be a big issue. “At any rate, if their ambition is to come back as governor, the current situation where they belong to two different political parties smells of confusion. I think one of them has to make up his mind to join the party of the other in order to have aplatform. We also need to ask them if they are the only people in the PDP that can govern Oyo State, should Ladoja decide to join the party. “Their approach is faulty and not in the best interest of the PDP and OyoState. Other party leaders, including me, do not think much of what theyare doing. It is at best another way of further dividing the party, as the duo do not have better claim on thePDP than the rest of us leaders. “I think the alliance is a self-seeking venture. It is time they stopped thinking about themselves and theirpolitical aspiration to rule the state again and begin to think of the state’s progress.” Balogun said: “It is a political gimmickry that has no purpose. The people are not fools. The voters are now wiser than before. Today, both of them will not get up to the lowest of the votes one of them got the last time. “The masses are not fools. They are more intelligent than what these people take them for. Ladoja and Alao-Akala are not as popular as they think.” Ladoja and Alao-Akala raised a 10-man committee last week to work out modalities for an alliance between them.

The source said the gathering was organized by the Democracy Emancipation Conference of Opposition Parties in the Southern Kaduna area of the state. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma Attacked By Armed Robbers – Car Stolen At Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

On Monday night, some armed robbers attacked popular Fuji Musician Wasiu Alabi popularly called Pasuma on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway very close to Ahmadiyya. We learnt the 9-man robbery gang snatched Pasuma’s SUV with plate #MUS 830AP. He was also robbed of several multi-million naira valuables. He was driven around town for 3 hours before being dumped at a bush very close to Ota in Ogun State. According to a friend of Pasuma who witnessed the robbery, the masked robbers attacked him at around 9pm on Monday. “ On Monday night, Pasuma was on his way to perform at a party but on getting to Ahmadiyya, he was attacked and the culprits took all his money and his mobilephones. His friend, who was in the car with him, was robbed as well. “The robbers then took control and drove Pasuma around for about three hours. While he was in their custody, Pasuma hid his face from them so the robbers did not know he was the one. When it was about 12 midnight, they dumped him and his friend in a bush at Itele area of Ogun State.” – said a friend As we speak, an official report has been filed at a local police station in the area. Efforts are being made to recover the stolen SUV and arrest the robbers.

Maxwell said, however, that he was willing to live with Grace, if she could change her behaviour. Pregnant Woman Sold Unborn Baby For N200,000

A 23-year-old pregnant woman, Adaeze Mba, caused a stir at the Lagos State Police headquarters on Thursday after she confessed that she had sold her unborn baby for N200,000, in advance: “I am seven months pregnant and as I speak to you, my husband has already sold our unborn baby for N200,000. I wasagainst it but he convinced me to agree to it, saying he had already collected the money.” She and her husband also sold their neighbour's son for N400,000 and escaped... The woman, who was arrested for conniving with her husband to sell their neighbour’s four-year-old son for N400,000, said it was poverty that pushed them to crime. She confessed that she and her husband had sold two other children for N700,000. She said, “In March 2013, my neighbour’s son, Stanley Ezeaka, was following me about in the compound at Jakande Estate andit was at that time that my husband received a phone call from his partner that she neededa child for sale. My husband then suggested that we took Stanley even though he was a bit old. “We travelled to Imo State the following morning and sold him for N400,000 after which we relocated to Calabar.” When asked about the other children she and her husband, Chibueze, had sold, she said, “Themale child was sold at N400,000 while the female child, who was two months old but is now over a year old, was sold at N300,000.” The husband, Chibueze, on his part, said he went into the business last year. He said he hadsold ‘only’ three children to his business partner, Madam Benedicta Ogbonna. He said, “One of the children was born by a mentally challenged woman; so I have committed no crime by selling the child to people who would take care of her.” Ogbonna, who bought the three children from Chibueze and his wife at different times, said she sold children to barren couples. She said, “I am doing this business for humanitarian reasons and not for monetary gain. I am 35 years old and I have four children. I can never sell my own children and in fact my husband does not know I aminto this kind of business. “Chibueze brought Stanley to meand told me that his mother wasa prostitute so he sold him to meat N400,000.
